One of the many requirements for getting admission to a graduate program is for students to pass some general and standard tests that determine if they are ready for a particular degree program and they will be able to perform well in their studies. There are many of these tests that are given to students to determine if they meet the required standards of a particular college or university and this makes these tests really important for students to clear as they play a very key role in their admissions to the top quality academic institutes. This article is a guide for students as it helps them understand the significance of the standard and general tests that are becoming necessary for students to pass in order to study further and discusses some of them in detail.

GRE - Graduate Record Examination (General and Subject)
This test checks out students verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning, critical thinking, and analytical writing skills that have been acquired over a period of time, and not specifically related to any specific field of study. TOEFL - Test of English as a Foreign Language

TOEIC - Test of English for International Communication

TSE - Test of Spoken English

LSAT (Law)

GMAT (MBA)
This is one test that helps business schools evaluate the qualifications of their applications who want to get degrees in business management. It measures basic verbal, mathematical, and analytical writing skills that students have acquired through education and employment.
